Troubleshooting Common Dual-Boot Issues While this guide strives for clarity, certain issues may arise. Here’s a troubleshooting guide for common problems.

Bootloader Doesn’t Appear:

  • Verify your boot order in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Ensure the correct drive is selected.

  • Try repairing the GRUB bootloader. There are several guides available online for this, or you could use a rescue disk.

  • Windows updates sometimes overwrite the GRUB bootloader. You’ll need to repair the bootloader after these updates.

  • Windows Doesn’t Boot:

    • Verify the boot order in the BIOS/UEFI.
    • If you can boot into Zorin OS, you can use the os-prober command in the terminal to re-detect Windows and add it to the boot menu.
  • Disk Space Issues: If you run out of disk space in either OS, consider expanding the partition size. This is generally easier to do from within Windows.

  • Driver Problems: If your hardware is not behaving correctly in Zorin OS, check the “Additional Drivers” tool.
